The Bolt may just be Tata Motors' way to tell the world that they're taking their age old design formula to an all new level. The company blends conventional elements with progressive ones, and infuses some modern tech in their big hatch - the Bolt. Is it a rehashed Indica Vista, or is there more to it?

Verdict

Tata’s attempt at reinventing the Vista is definitely praiseworthy. The automaker has retained the core basics, while adding new-age tech such as a touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control.

The biggest reasons to pick the Bolt include its combination of rear-seat space and ride quality.

Pros & Cons of Tata Bolt

Things We Like

  • Rear bench legroom is amongst the best in the segment.
  • Ticks all the safety boxes: airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution and corner stability control.
  • Loaded with features: projector headlamps, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control etc.

Things We Don't Like

  • No automatic variants. Both Figo and Grand i10 have automatic versions in their line-up.
  • Storage space inside the cabin is severely restricted. Just a cup-holder and an under-seat tray.

    Tata Bolt XE diesel Pros: Speed, Steering, Legroom, AC, service cost (maintenance). Cons: No space for water bottle, Engine sound,door noise, suspension. Door injection (door quality is good but injection is small.. so if supposed force to. open the door the inject is broken). Tata Bolt XE Diesel is the most talked-about hatchback in the diesel version lately. Though Tata has made it a point to launch back to back cars recently, diesel vehicle is something that the Indian consumers have been looking out for. Being budget-oriented and with a keen eye on the mileage, the Indian consumers have a lot of expectations from this model from Tata Motors. It delivers a whooping 23kmpl on highways and 19 kmpl on city streets. Tata Motors have always done well in terms of diesel engines and have provided the Indian consumers with a good mileage Tata Bolt XE Diesel Performance and Handling This vehicle is a good performer both on highways and city streets. It is equipped with a good mechanism with Dual-path McPherson strut with coil spring and anti-roll bar in the front and Twist beam with coil spring and shock absorber in the rear.     Tata Bolt is more spacious compared to all other hatchbacks. Comfortable driving Interior and steering look very rich like Benz. I reached the mileage up to 17.2 km/l petrol as they mentioned. If you want to get the mileage as they mentioned you have to reset the meter then only you can identify how much mileage we got.

Launched in January 2015, the Tata Bolt falls in the B-segment. The Bolt shares most of its features with its compact sedan sibling, the Zest. Priced in the range of Rs 4.77 lakh - Rs 7.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Bolt is available in four variants - XE, XM, XMS and XT.

Tata Bolt Specifications: It can be had with either a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine (90PS/140Nm) or a 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel motor (75PS/190Nm). Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Tata Bolt returns a mileage of 17.57kmpl in its petrol guise and 22.95kmpl in the diesel avatar. The Bolt isn’t offered with an automatic transmission option.

Tata Bolt Features: It gets features like  projector headlamps, touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio, speed-dependant volume control, voice commands, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
