24-Hour Nurburgring Race Won by Audi; India’s Aditya Patel Helped Win the SP 4T class

The recent Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race was a grueling round-the-clock marathon that involved a number of teams and was filled with interesting events. But the end of the race has been marked as a momentous event for the German auto maker Audi who claimed its first title for the overall victory in the Nurburgring race. The top two spots were bagged by Audi; after 155 laps the Audi Sport Team Phoenix R8 LMS Ultra grabbed the chequered flag and was soon followed by the Audi R8 which was a contender of the same team.

The total participants in the race were 31 GT3- specification cars but after 24 hours of difficult and eventful racing only 16 cars were classified by the end. In the beginning the pole was grabbed by the Team Schubert with the BMW Z4 GT3 that led the race for the maximum time in the initial part, but later on it faced some driveshaft issues. There was one more BMW Z4 GT3 which was leading the race but it also faced some transmission problems which paved the way for the powerful Audi R8s who ended up dominating the race with a finish of 1-2.

Marc Basseng, Christopher Haase, Markus Winkelhock and Frank Stippler were the men behind the wheels of the Audi R8 LMS that won the title. In the words of Markus Winkelhock, the weekend was a great one for the team and they were driving a perfect and unmistakable car which faced no issues. He expressed his elation in standing at the podium and also mentioned that the race was competitive and tough. Audi has been participating in the challenging Nurburgring race for over 20 years now and this is the first time it bagged the title; the moment was an historic one for the brand as a whole.

After 20 years winning the race was not the end for Audi and it also landed up winning the SP 4T class with the Audi TT. This SP 4T class title was momentous because out of three drivers one was Aditya Patel from Chennai India. Aditya is backed by Audi India and he surpassed all the expectations by performing exceptionally well and displaying skills like reliability and competency. He drove for the team Pro-Handicap e.V who clocked 129 laps in 24 hours; the figure is just 29 laps less than the winner of the race.
