50 Percent Car Buyers in India Research Online. Eon Most Preferred

The lifeline of the interweb - Google had recently conducted an auto survey for India in which it came forth that the 10 top most searched new cars, which were launched in the year 2011 included the Hyundai Eon, Mahindra XUV500, Honda Brio, Tata Manza, Maruti Suzuki Kizashi, Toyota Liva, Hyundai Verna, Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid and Ford Fiesta in this order. It has also been revealed that more than 50 percent of the car buyers of India do some online research regarding the features, the prices, the pictures, the reviews etc before making the actual purchase. The statistics collected by Google suggest that the year on year growth in the volume of the queries on the auto sector is about 70 percent.

In the year 2011, the queries done by the mobile phones saw an impressive growth of 125 percent and the one from the smartphones shot by whopping 242 percent. If the percentage growth is considered after dividing the total queries on the basis of segments, then it can be seen that the highest growth of 83 percent is registered by the Sports Utility Vehicle segment which is already at an all time high. Next to the SUV segment is the expected ‘Premium’ segment with a growth of about 82 percent in the total queries and is followed by the ‘Sedan’ segment with a growth of 75 percent. The ‘Luxury Cars’ segment is at par with the sedan segment with a growth of 75 percent and trailing in the query race is the ‘Hatchback’ segment with a 53 percent growth.
