The Audi A5 coupe was spotted on the Mumbai roads according to the latest reports, along with other models undergoing the tests like Audi A4 and Audi A8. The Audi A8 is likely to be offered in the short-wheel base variant in India. The Audi A5 is a 2 door sedan, which is likely to target the Mercedes-Benz E Class Coupe in the car market. However, the Audi A5 2-door sedan with its diesel engine is likely to be leading the competition, with Mercedes-Benz E Class- Coupe available only in the petrol variant. The Audi A5 price is expected to be around Rs 60 lakh.

While the Audi A5 review suggests that, the coupe is equipped with a 3.0 liter Tdi engine, the Mercedes-Benz E coupe is powered by a 350 L 3498 cc engine to produce a peak power of 272 kW and 355 Nm peak torque.The current competition in the luxury segment is constituted of three leading rivals Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, with Audi in the third position. Audi India recorded an impressive 510 car sales in the month of August, with a total sales of 3655 unit sales in the period of January-August 2011. The growth percentage was marked to be 95% over the corresponding period of last year.

Apparently, Audi India foresees to enter into the used car business to increase their revenue by 5-10% initially to reach 25% revenue output from the used car sales in coming five years. Audi India is said to be doing good in used car sales in India with Audi A6 and Audi A7 capable of getting 50-55% of its actual price for a 3 years usage of the model.

Audi India had recently opened its dealership in Surat and envisage setting up a second showroom in Gujarat, adding to its existing 13 sales and service centers across the country. The company has plans to extend to 18 dealerships by this year end to reach 25 dealerships by 2012 year end.
