Recently in news was the German auto giant Audi, who is working on the plans of expanding its Q range of crossovers with even-numbered models such as Q2, Q4, Q6 and Q8. In respect to Indian car market this move could be considered as an attempt to take on the rivaling car marque BMW which sits at the apex position in luxury car segment. But it cannot and should not be taken for granted that BMW would just sit and watch while other car makers try to dethrone it.

BMW has initiated the research work on its models and is also looking at the scope of their improvement which would ultimately aid the company in strengthening its position in various segments. BMW is reusing the idea of E38 on the 7-series XLi which is aimed at the Chinese market. Next in line are the X7 and X8 crossovers which are top class luxury SUVs based on the platforms of BMW X5 and X6 respectively. BMW is also working on the release of the second generation of CS coupe named as BMW CS II which is expected to be positioned over the BMW 7-series.
