Budget effect: Mitsubishi reduced car prices by Rs 6,000

Much awaited demand from car companies fulfilled in the new budget for 2009-10. The Finance Minister Pranab Mukerjee proposed to cut the additional excise duty on big cars, cars having engine capacities of 2,000cc, above by Rs 5,000 per unit. The car industry welcomed the change and Mitsubishi, present in India through a joint venture with Hindustan Motors Ltd, announced price cut on its cars. From July 7, Pajero, Outlander and Montero will have a price cut of Rs 6,000 in India. HML said in a statement that the company wanted to share the entire benefit to the customers. The revised prices of the cars will be now Pajero (Rs 20.64 lakh), Outlander (Rs 20.69 lakh) and Montero (Rs 41.88 lakh).
