The auto giant from Italy, Fiat rolled out the 2012 version of Punto hatchback in January this year without divulging any details on the Fiat Grande Punto 90 HP Sports. Fiat India had also announced on the occasion that the company would not introduce any new product or variant in the current year and instead would focus on expanding service network and brand building.
But recently Fiat India has revealed that the Grande Punto limited edition variant is going to bow in on 18th May 2012 and a second Fiat Caffe in Pune will also be inaugurated. Powering the Fiat Grande Punto 90 HP is the 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel engine with turbocharger of variable geometry.
This engine is quite capable of producing a peak torque of 209 Nm and a peak power of 93 PS thus making the Punto 90 HP one of the most powerful diesel hatchbacks in Indian subcontinent. The price tag is expected to be heftier than Rs. 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which was the initial price of Punto 90 HP when it was launched in 2010.
This increase would be a direct result of the higher excise duties on cars than before. Nothing can be precisely said about what the car will be bestowed with but if the indications of 2010 auto expo are to be believed then the Grande Punto 90 HP could flaunt racing stripes, dashboard with red stitches, rear spoiler, black finished roof, new alloy wheels and red colored rear view mirrors etc.
