Fiat to bring small car in competition with Maruti Alto

Fiat is to soon come out with a small car which will be pitched against Maruti Alto, speculated to be out in 2012. Mr Rajeev Kapoor, the Managing Director in Fiat India said that the small car will be a new technology in the hatchback segment. He also said that the small wagon from Fiat will not be a look alike of Fiat Uno which has been launched in the global auto market recently. This new small car design has been widely studied from the various car models from Fiat which are already established in other auto markets.

Mr Kapoor revealed that the new small car will be an all new wagon which will be different from the existing portfolio. The small car will be priced competitively in the Indian auto market. The new small car will be pitched against Maruti Alto and have a one litre engine. He added that the small car from Fiat will truly be a Indian car as it will be crafted as per the needs and conditions of the sub continent. He further added that Fiat's R&D team is developing a new small car which will meet the requirements of the Indian buyers. He concluded by saying that the Indian small car segment is quite tempting and is growing leaps and bounds despite rally of small cars available with severe competition among the auto companies. Fiat is looking forward to enter in the small car segment and enjoy major market share of the growing domestic auto market.

It is expected that Fiat is building the small car on the ground up design but as to control the costing of the new car it will be using localized components. It is also being speculated that the new small car will have similarity with the new car models of Fiat Uno and Fiat Panda. But the dimensions would be more like Fiat 500. It looks like Fiat is working hard to make the technology. It is being heard that Fiat will use a 900 cc TwinAir mill that is an award winning engine and offers a combination of fuel economy along with being environmental friendly. The small car from the Fiat's stable is speculated to the best known wagon to deliver excellent mileage. As per the reports, the higher car model will spot the 1.2 litre engine.
