The second largest hatchback manufacturer in the country, Hyundai India has plans to introduce 10-15 new cars in the next four-five years. According to Hyundai India sales reports, the company’s market share has fallen to 18.3% from 21% during the past one to one-and-half years. The company’s sales and marketing head, Arvind Saxena had said that the consumers are on a look out for innovative cars with brand new technology and fresh looks. Hence, to keep up with the demand, the automobile companies have to constantly work towards developing something which appeals to the customers. Moreover, to overcome the petrol price crisis in the country, the auto major is mulling to introduce an LPG variant of Hyundai Eon.
Due to the lack of numerous car launches and surprisingly fast-paced growth in the country’s economy, the Indian car industry has witnessed a tremendous growth over the past few years. But, the recent fuel price revisions, high inflation and sky-rocketing interest rates on loans have played a key role in bringing down sales growth in the Indian auto market. This fiscal has especially seen a drastic slowdown in sales recording mere 1.84% during the first half. However, with the proper positioning of car launches and implementing well-planed strategies, the car market experts predict a growth of 12-14% in the next five years.
In tandem with the other car manufacturers, Hyundai India expects to introduce various car models ranging from a segment above Hyundai Verna to compete against Chevrolet Cruze and Honda Civic. Apart from that, the company is also anticipating to launch a Hyundai i10 and i20 facelifts. Furthermore, Hyundai India envisages making entry into the newer sections, probably an SUV, where it has not yet made its presence known. This is to follow the lead of Hyundai India’s closest rival Maruti India, which is planning to launch 15-20 cars by 2015, while General Motors is expected to introduce 6-8 cars, Ford India has also prolaimed in the beginning of the year that the company will launch 8 new cars inIndia, out of which Ford Fiesta sedan has already been launched. Apart from this Renault-Nissan jointly will launch 10-15 cars in India, in the coming years .
