Tamil Nadu Government’s  labour commissioner office has recently issued a letter which defers the decision about the reinstatement of 35 dismissed workers of Hyundai Motor India Ltd for the fourth time. The Hyundai Motor India Employees Union is affiliated by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, that is, CITU. In the month of June, both Hyundai Motor India Employees Union and the Hyundai management had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). According to this agreement, a review committee was formed for preparing a report about the reinstatement of the dismissed employees.

Though the labour commission had promised for a decision on Monday but it put it off due to the risk of a hunger strike by the Hyundai employees. This strike was prevented at the last moment because of the request of the management.

The representatives of Hyundai Motor India Employees Union (HMIEU) and the company have already given their arguments on the reinstatement. On the other hand, the labour commissioner officials have yet to provide their recommendation. This is necessary for both the parties.
