Maruti Suzuki, India's biggest car maker has given a mid-life facelift to its small car A-Star. The Maruti A-Star which was launched a couple of years ago has seen some average sales figures unlike the other small cars from Maruti, but now Maruti has pumped in some fresh blood on it by giving it a makeover. The face-lifted A-Star or the 2012 A-Star as it would be better known has got most of the changes done in the interiors while the exteriors have been left untouched. The 2012 A-Star gets an all new upholstery with new front head restraints being added and also the A-Star now gets the much needed ABS and air bags as an option, apart from this the car now sports new alloy wheels.

The single gold rear seats now get a 50-50 split fold which can be very well utilized for loading in more stuff in the boot. New color shades also come in, shades of Caffeine Brown and Glistening Grey add to the older color options. Technically the 2012 A-Star remains the same and the car is still powered by the 1-litre, 3-cylinder K series petrol engine with 67 PS @ 6200 RPM and making 90 Nm of torque @ 3500 RPM. The 5-speed manual and 4 speed automatic gearbox also remains the same.

The 2012 A-Star comes in 3 trim levels. Prices for the 2012 A-Star start at Rs. 3.66 lakh for the LXi trim and Rs. 3.97 lakh for the fully loaded VXi trim. The automatic version of the 2012 A-Star comes in at Rs. 4.47 lakh for the VXi while the ZXi automatic is priced at Rs. 4.47 lakhs. There is another optional variant that comes equipped with airbags and ABS on the VXi variant which is priced at Rs. 4.40 lakh ex showroom Delhi.
