Maruti, Hyundai cross new milestones, car sales rise in September

Including the top two carmakers, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors, almost all the carmakers have registered their best monthly sales in September and they look steady for setting new marks in the month of October although the increasing vehicle sales also refresh concerns about the rising traffic congestion in the cities. Mayank Pareek, managing executive officer of Maruti Suzuki India stated that they are moving towards a great year on sales. All rural and urban markets are quite robust and the momentum may probably move beyond the festive time of October and November.
Maruti Suzuki India, country’s largest carmaker registered sales of 1,08,006 cars in the month of September. Since its inception in 1998, Hyundai Motors also registered its highest monthly sales in the domestic market. Last month, company’s overall sales had fell 4% because the exports fell 24.3% to 19,690 units. Arvind Saxena, director, marketing & sales, at Hyundai Motor commented that they have adjusted their supplies to domestic market and prefer growth there in comparison of the overseas markets.
In September, Tata Motors sold 23,877 cars which was a jump of 31%. On the other hand, the Ford Motors registered sales of 8,380 cars. As far as the two-wheeler makers are concerned, Hero Honda, the market leader recorded sales of 4,33,000 vehicles which was a growth of 8%. The TVS company sold 1,88,005 vehicles in the month of September. Ajay Sethia, auto analyst at financial service company Centrum stated that the manufacturers are pushing and setting up volumes at the dealerships in a buildup for the coming festive season.
