Maruti Ritz engine launched on April 14, 2009. India's largest car manufacturer revealed its new K12M engine to the world. Maruti Ritz engine is manufactured at the company's Gurgaon based manufacturing plant in a special new engine plant. The new K12M engine is the second of its KB series engine, its smaller sibling, while the K10B was the first which is now been fitted in its ultra compact car Maruti A-Star.
The new K12M is a 1197cc petrol engine that is capable to produce 85PS power at 6000rpm and 113Nm torque at 4500rpm that should make Maruti Ritz a sprightly performer when it hits showrooms soon. Maruti's engineers team worked closely with the Suzuki boffins in India and in Japan to make the new K12M engine as advanced as possible. The main aim for this engineers team was to reduce losses and an innovative rocker-less DOHC camshaft, plastic intake manifold and offset crankshaft with low tension rings help do just that. The new K12M engine is also a light weight engine that makes it more fuel efficient. The K12M engine is also BS-IV compliant - that will make the Maruti Ritz the first ever passenger car in India to adhere to the new pollution norm when it rolls out.
