Maruti Suzuki India overseas sales might get impacted due to the unrest in the North African nation. Maruti Suzuki's exports sales to Egypt constitutes almost three per cent of its overseas sales.
Mayank Pareek, Maruti Suzuki India Managing Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales), informed the reporters that the unrest in Egypt will definitely impact the exports sales.
The company mostly sells the small car Alto in Egypt. Last year MSI exported 1.47 lakh units. It has a single distributor who is responsible for for sales in Egypt. It does not operate directly in the country.
Europe is a major market for export and one of the significant reason why MSI has been facing challenge in its export sale is because of the meagre demand in Europe.
There is a dip in the export sales figure this year . In January last year the company exported 14,562 units which has been dropped to 9,321 in January 2011.
There is a decline of 2.9 per cent in the company's overall exports in April-January period for the ongoing fiscal. Last year during the same period company exported 1,20,097 units, which has decreased to 1,16,636 this year.
