Even with an affordable diesel variant, the Maruti SX4 sedan was unable to create a sensation in the market. The sales report for the month of May is an absolute proof of the same as the car managed to sell less than 500 units in comparison to other cars like Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento and Nissan Sunny that managed a sale of over 2,000 units for the same period. Maruti Suzuki India has not rendered this sedan of the C-segment with an update from a long time unlike the other cars in the model line-up of the company. The features gracing the car are not at par with the segment rivals. The sedan also faces a setback in terms of the engine which is the same 1.3L that is also powering the latest Maruti Ertiga MPV and is not as great as other engines of the segment.
To counter the sluggish sales Maruti Suzuki has decided to come up with a limited celebration edition of the top end variants of both the petrol and diesel versions of the car. Despite of being Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000 less expensive than the ZXI and ZDI models respectively, the celebration edition of the SX4 sedan is finished with better seat covers, leather on the steering wheel and chrome inserts so that it looks different than the standard version of the car. The car also gets limited edition graphics in addition to buy-back options and other schemes. The ex-showroom Delhi prices of the Maruti SX4 Celebration are Rs. 8.05 lakh for ZXI and Rs. 9.21 lakh for ZDI.
