It seems as if the economic slowdown hasn't spared even the largest car manufacturer of India Maruti Suzuki, and that has been the reason why we are seeing MSI coming up with different schemes even on its top-selling cars like Swift and Ritz. A few days back, Maruti Suzuki came up with the instant delivery scheme on its flagship hatchback Swift Diesel and up to Rs 45,000 discount on Ritz diesel. And now Maruti Dealers said to have been offering a straight Rs 5,000 corporate discount on the Swift including the diesel version, which is an unusual thing to hear.
Why we are calling it unusual is the reason that MSI has never offered any cash discount on the Swift ever since its launch in the market. However, the company denied for such an offer, dealers have the different story to tell. Speaking to ET, a Maruti Suzuki dealer says "We are currently facing perhaps the toughest times in the past several years. The customer test-drives, rate of conversations of car bookings to retail sales all have declined in recent months," He further said, "While waiting on all models has vanished, the lacklustre Budget has changed the swing even for models like Swift that have enjoyed huge waiting until last month."
In fact, Some dealers based out of Bangalore and Mumbai said to have been offering the discount up to Rs 10,000 on select variants of the Swift Dzire compact sedan in order to increase footfalls in dealerships. Denying for such a discount, a Maruti Suzuki's Spokesperson said that "This is not true. There is no discount for retail customers. There may be offers for certain bulk deals,"
