Maruti takes over 50 per cent market share in October

Maruti has achieved another milestone by capturing 50 per cent of market share in the month of October. Maruti Suzuki India, the largest auto manufacturer in India has been ruling the hearts of car buyers since 27 years in domestic market. The biggest auto maker has achieved this success, despite not touching the coveted mark, for four continuous months in the domestic market.
As per the data gathered by Society of Indian Automobile manufacturers (SIAM), in October the aggregate sale of the passenger cars were 1,82,992 vehicles, out of which Maruti Suzuki India has 50.14 per cent share accounting to a sale of 91,754 units.
The achievement of Maruti Suzuki India can be credited to its successful cars like Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Estilo, Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz and Maruti A-star, these small cars have captured the Indian Auto Market. The total sale of these small cars in October accounted to 77,502 units.
If the sale of Maruti is compared over last year's sale, there is a leap of 39.21 per cent which also includes exports made by the company. In total Maruti Suzuki India in October sold 1,18,908 units globally. The sale was registered as the highest monthly sale ever.
The domestic auto market has 70 per cent of its share in the small car segment. Maruti Suzuki India has been facing tough competition in India from General Motors, Hyundai Motors and Ford India. In June, the total cars sold were 1,41,184 in the Indian market and in which Maruti could only sell 61,589 cars, having a market share of 43.62 per cent.
In July, Maruti Suzuki India was able to put better sales figure, it sold 76,111 cars from a total 1,58,764 cars in the domestic market coming out with a share of 47.94 per cent.
The market share of Maruti India improved again in August with 48.73 per cent by selling 78,351 units from a total of 1,60,794 units sold in the domestic market. MSI's share in the domestic market went down a little in September, to 47.94 per cent despite selling more vehicles than in the previous month. The sale in September was 81,060 units from the total sale of 169,082 units in the domestic market.
In May 2010, Maruti Suzuki India, sold half of the total cars sold in the Indian auto market. The market share in May, accounted to 51.27 per cent as it sold 76,120 cars from a total of 1,48,481 cars.
