Narendra Modi to Induce Maruti Suzuki to Shift their Operation to Gujarat

Manesar Plant has been constantly creating troubles for the Japanese auto giant, Suzuki in India. And the recent violent clash between workers and officials has disturbed the MSI’s top management; Maruti Suzuki’s HR General Manager was burned to death. This might also affect the production at the plant for a month. In fact such an action has been condemned by Japan. The company had to bear the loss of more than 2500 crore last year as well due to labour unrest that took place for weeks at the same plant.
So all these events one after the other must have surely made Maruti Suzuki India to think of shifting their plant to some other place to ignore such loses and disturbance. And as per the word on the street, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is planning to meet senior Suzuki Motor Corp executives in Japan next week to convince them to shift their entire Indian operations to Gujarat. Modi has done the same with Tata group as well four years back, which was facing a tough time due to a two-year long protest of farmers at Singur in West Bengal.
A senior government official who will go with Modi to Japan has reported to a media house that, Modi will have a “detailed discussions” with Maruti and Suzuki’s top executives on the same on July 25th. He further said, "It shows his seriousness about bringing the company to Gujarat." cChairman for Maruti Suzuki India, RC Bhargava has said it sometime back as well, that the company is planning to halt its car production at Gurgaon. He also said that the Maruti would shift its production to Mehsana, Gujarat where the company is building a facility.
Such a step of Gujarat CM makes us believe the sincerity towards his dream of turning Gujarat an auto hub. He has been successful in bringing Ford India, PSA Peugeot Citroen Tata Motors, Bombardier and Asia Motor works to set up their plants in Gujarat. Furthermore, Indian two wheeler giant Hero MotoCorp officials too have been said to be inspecting a place to set up their facility in Gujrat.
