SkodaAuto associates with Tour de Mumbai 2011

SkodaAuto India in an attempt to spread awareness regarding going green and leading a healthy life flagged a lagged off the Skoda Elite International Men’s Race - II at the second edition of Tour de Mumbai I & II - Cyclothon 2011. SkodaAuto India is the Indian subsidiary of SkodaAuto a.s., Czech Republic.Skoda elite International Men’s Race - II (108 km) flagged off byhon’ble Minister Shri Chhagan Bhujbal.
Robbie Hunter of team Radio Shack emerged as the winner of the ‘Skoda Elite International Men’s Race (108 km)’. He was awarded with a price money of 6000 Euros.
SkodaAuto has been associated for past two years with this event to encourage people to keep the environment clean, safe and healthy.
SkodaAuto known for its fuel efficient and eco friendly cars participated in the event to support and promote the social cause.
The cyclothon held under the aegis of Swiss based International Cycling Federation, International Cycling Union & Cycling Federation of India in association with ID sports to accentuate cycling habits and its benefits in India. The tour started on February 11 in Nashik (180 Km) and ended on February 13, in Mumbai.
The public present at the event was overwhelmed to see the two internationally acclaimed pro tour cycling teams-USA’s Radio Shack and Italy’s Liquigas. The former is the winner of Tour de France, 2010 and latter is the he winners of Tour de France, 2010.
Various categories like Elite International Men (108 Kms), Amateur Ride (28 kms), Green Ride (15 km), Kids Ride (3 km), Corporate Challenge Ride (14 kms) offered huge participation. Cycle Federation of India (CFI) selected 44 participants who participated in the Elite race category.
The participants included people from school, college,working professionals , housewives and senior citizens. SkodaAuto a.s. has been associated with Tour de France – the most famous bicycle race in the world since 2004; associating with Tour de Mumbai and Tour de Delhi was SkodaAuto’s commitment towards promoting green environment with eco-friendly cars.
