Following the on-going trend of smaller crossovers, German auto major, Volkswagen has now officially revealed the Cross up!, a rugged version of Volkswagen's flagship small car, the up! ahead of its premier at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March. The new five-door Cross up! could only be launched in the UK.

What we can see in the images are the plastic wheel arch protectors, roof rails, 16-inch alloy wheels and aggressive bumpers, helping it look like muscular and rugged. Even inside the cabin, the car now receives a new upholstery and extra chrome trim.

Mechanically the car stays the same, it carries the similar 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine with two power options- 74bhp and 54bhp.

All the models of the Cross Up! will sport the front-wheel-drive only, since it is more of an urban compact crossover than an off-roader. Whether the car is positioned above the existing up! range or a new line-up, still has to be confirmed, as this could go either way.
